The Cookies of Life

It’s what we call the cookies of life.

The sweet, never ending struggle to achieve happiness.

Looking past the lies we tell ourselves, pretending that this, this is what we want. This is what we’ve been aiming for. And how can one not be lost in the stories. I would listen too if i were completely oblivious to the truth. Or my version of it. What is truth? Truth is a statistic, an agreement which society has decided upon without ever really asking the question. And there are always people who fight the truth or the version of the truth. For example, whose truth was it to decide that segregation is legitimate or that guns lead to violence. Why is it that all parents buy their children video games and then complain about how the industry has turned them into mindless zombies? And what constitutes failure? Failure isn’t giving up, failure isn’t repeating your mistake over and over again, failure is failing to see that you have failed. After one has realized that they have failed they should accept the failure and continue on to failing at something completely different. Because you acknowledged that failure, you’re in the clear. Because anyone can give up, anyone can start again, not everyone can outwardly say that they failed, that they hit rock bottom. In this we are all failures.

And confusion, what is confusion? It’s a train of thoughts flowing in and out of your mind. They take the feeling that you had and push you in a completely different direction without so much as asking you whether or not you’re ready to be hit with a train of uncontrollable feelings. Confusion is being lost within yourself, suddenly not being able to breathe and wanting to fall backwards and over into oblivion. Just free falling out of the sky and into the ocean, floating on and not being burned by the ever shining sun. Listening to the ocean and all the creatures deep within it without so much as thinking you’re going to be eaten by a shark. Confusion, it’s the feeling you get when shock is no longer substantial.
